Color Coding I

I have no technical skill, so I mostly just experiment with color and texture. Here are some of the more vivid examples of those attempts to cover up for my deficiencies as a real artist, starting with some purple ones.

Corrugated

One night, late, I ran out of canvases and boards to paint on, so out of necessity, I started painting on the pieces of corrugated card that came as packing material with some frames I had bought. I really liked the texture and the effect it created, so I started painting on the corrugated board on purpose for a while. I'm not sure if it just looks extra cheap and amateurish, but it adds a little element of I-don't-know-what to the experience of making and looking. Sort of looks like I painted on a flattened out corncob or something Plus, it's fun to say "corrugated."

Scrapings

Another series. I stumbled upon an effect that resembles what you might see on old walls that have accumulated years of paint and wallpaper, and what might happen if you were to scrape away at them in various places to discover some of the layers beneath the surface. It became another obsession I couldn't relinquish. So I did a whole lot of paintings I just started to call "scrapings."
